Glyn is a Consultant Nurse for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust. Within this role he is responsible for leading the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Service and is the professional nursing lead for IBD, Hepatitis C, Bowel Screening and Endoscopy. He is developing the Trust’s Nurse Led IBD Service and is also a Non-Medical Prescriber. Prior to this role, he had a varied career in nursing, working within IBD, nutrition, critical care, and management roles.

Glyn is passionate about improving patient experience and using evaluation strategies to continually monitor and improve the care delivered to the patient. He has always had a keen interest in using the workplace to develop staff to support the delivery of the highest levels of care. He has a wide portfolio of conference presentations, both nationally and internationally, and is constantly inspired by the good practice shared by all presenters. He has just been appointed the Clinical Lead for IBD for East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust.

Dr Karen Kemp is a clinical academic Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Consultant Nurse. She is currently the Consultant Nurse IBD at Manchester Royal Infirmary, leading a team of six IBD Nurse Specialists, a Specialist Pharmacist, IBD Co-coordinator and is also an Honorary Lecturer (Research) at the University of Manchester. Dr Kemp was awarded one of the NIHR 70@70 Senior Nurse Research Leader posts in April 2019 and she is now part of the NIHR Academy Nursing and Midwifery Careers Advisory Service, whilst continuing her own post- doctoral research projects. Karen’s interests are patient reported outcomes, follow up care and the impact of the IBD nurse on patient care. She now sits on the Research Committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and the Gastroenterology Clinical Research Network. Internationally, she is the past Chair of the Nurse European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation Committee (N-ECCO 2016-2017) developing the first Nurse Education Programme within ECCO which took place in Italy in 2018/2019. Karen also developed the NECCO Research Nurse Forum which has now become part of the NECCO educational portfolio which provides a collaborative platform for nurses undertaking research across Europe.
